About the Role
The Systems Safety Engineer will work in a team of safety assurance professionals at various levels in Safety and RAM Programmes' for both public sector and resource industry clients.

You will assist in providing supporting evidence for safety cases and SFAIRP arguments, participate in safety risk workshops, undertake detailed risk assessments, review safety documentation, and manage hazard logs.
This role requires a good technical background, ideally with experience in a multi-disciplinary consulting environment within the rail industry.


• Demonstrated ability to support for hazard/risk workshops, the preparation of risk assessment and safety assurance reports and the application of risk management;
• Contribute to the development of the railway-level safety-related deliverables, safety requirements and control strategies as required to support the various safety cases and safety reports;
• Use of RAMS assurance tools including maintaining safety requirements and hazard logs, preparing and analysing RBDs, QRAs, FMECAs, Fault and Event Trees, etc.
• Application of verification and validation techniques as contained in the CENELEC rail safety standards such as EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129, as well as working knowledge of engineering safety management good practice such as contained within iESM principles, tools and techniques.
• On-going provision of support and advice to operational, engineering and project management staff.
• Supporting project safety assurance activities as required.
• From a Safety perspective, participate as required in other technical areas of projects such as Wayside Systems, Signalling, Track Design and Infrastructure Design, particularly in design safety reviews and elicitation of safety requirements from design SMEs;
• Work with subcontractor safety consultants as required

Key Criteria

• Degree qualified and have some experience as a Systems Safety Engineer ideally within the rail industry but other industries will be considered;
• At least +3 years' experience in the Systems Safety Assurance role;
• Degree in the relevant area of studies (Science, Engineering, Safety, etc.)
