Our client is one of the world's leading energy services companies with significant interests in high profile mining projects.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to assist in providing engineering and delivery services for an aluminium smelter operation in Portland, Victoria for a 3 month contract. The ideal candidate will have the ability to live in Portland for at least 3 months. The successful candidate will be seconded to a global industry leader in bauxite, alumina and aluminium products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing engineering designs, equipment specifications, data sheets, lists and calculations;
• Delivering to expectation across various multi-discipline brownfield projects;
• Help to deliver leading practices improving plant profitability, safety and environmental performance
• Prepare procurement requisitions for electrical equipment and assess vendor bids;
• Engage directly with the client to ensure a successful delivery of the project and continue to build the relationship;
• Review vendor design documentation;
• Prepare scopes of work;
• Develop commissioning plans and procedures and participate in commissioning activities;
• Cooperate with other engineering disciplines and designers to deliver projects;
• Participate in design review, constructability and safety review workshops (HAZID/HAZOP).

Key Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience and criteria:

• Australian recognised Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical)
• Ability to live in Portland, Victoria for at least 3 months
• 5-10 years post graduate experience
• Experience within a manufacturing or production environment, Smelter metals experience preferred
• Knowledge of applicable Codes / Standards and Legislation.
• Experience with engineering and design on HV and LV systems, e.g. (HV and LV Switchgear, Transformers, MCCs and Power distribution systems and analysis.
• Previous brownfield project experience
• A self-starter, ability to work autonomously and in small teams
• They will be seconded with the client and problem solving skills would be greatly desirable
• Willing to work in the smelter operations and maintenance environment
• Assisting /Managing/ delivering small to medium size Electrical and instrument projects from concept through to execution and commissioning.

3-month contract (possibility of extension); up to $85.23 per hour (incl. super); Monday - Friday roster; hands on site experience; secondment with the client
