Mechanical Project Engineer

Our client is a leading renewable energy developer with numerous projects all across the region. With hundreds of professionals employed globally, our client is looking to grow and expand its business by hiring passionate individuals to join their team in Australia.

• Prepare basic energy balance calculations for biomass / waste to energy projects.
• Prepare concept designs for materials handling facilities including calculation of required equipment capacity / duty.
• Provide input to project layout design.
• Prepare sections of technical specifications related to mechanical systems and performance guarantees.
• Conduct logistics assessments for delivery of major equipment to project sites (biomass / waste to energy, wind projects), review contractor logistics plans.
• Review and comment on contractor technical proposals and designs for mechanical and process systems, propose improvements where possible.
• Collaborate with engineers in other offices in Seoul and Tokyo to share information and receive expert input.
• Manage communications with contractors and consultants / advisors, including responding to requests for information, conducting design reviews, assembling comments / clarifications, etc. Manage contractors and consultants on time completion of work packages during the early works and development phase of projects.
• Review contractor's proposed suppliers for mechanical equipment and advise on suitability (quality, experience), with input from consultants / advisors and other engineers.
• Review and comment on inspection and test plans (ITPs) from contractors, manage ITP progress and completion, manage inspection service providers for factory inspections of equipment review.
• Support project management activities including communication with consultants and contractors, monitoring schedule progress, management of quality control records, reviewing payment claims, etc.
• Reports to line manager Director Engineering & Project Management, depending on the project also receives functional direction from and reports to project managers and development leads as assigned.

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in relevant roles
• Bachelor's degree qualified mechanical engineer
• Experience with thermal power projects (biomass, waste to energy, gas or coal)
• Previous experience in roles in with a contractor, major equipment supplier or engineering consultant in similar projects.
• Experience with software packages including AutoCAD and MS Project. Strong excel skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with non-technical colleagues, other engineers, contractors and stakeholders.
• Strong written communication skills with experience in preparing specifications, reports, etc.
• Demonstrated capability to effectively manage multiple work assignments concurrently.
• Japanese or Korean language ability will be appreciated but is not essential.
