About the Role:

We are seeking an Electrical Estimator for a major energy asset owner / operator with a strong background in substations.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the success of the business by producing of accurate, competitive and profitable pricing submissions to clients. This includes estimating for medium to large proposals generally >$5M to <$100M>
Reporting to the Lead Estimator, you will be responsible for consolidating internal and external costs using first principles and procurement practices.

Key Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience and criteria:

• Tertiary qualifications in STEM disciplines
• An understanding and knowledge across multiple estimating disciplines including Civil, Mechanical and HV/LV Electrical
• Best practice knowledge of first principles estimating - labour and plant on-costs', crews', productive and unproductive time and activity scheduling
• Best practice knowledge of pricing principles - direct costs, in-direct costs, contingency, business overheads, EBIT, spreading and cash flow
• Thorough knowledge of estimating norms and pricing benchmarks
• WBS principles and cost allocation
• Scoping, RFQs and vetting external suppliers and subcontract packages
• Using proprietary procurement tools to manage the RFQ process
• Interpreting drawings, understanding specifications, codes, Australian Standards, legislation and utility/network standards
• Expert Estimation and Microsoft Project
• Document management and SharePoint
• Contractual and commercial acumen - upstream and downstream (subcontract back-to-back)
• End-to-end sales, Operations and lessons learned processes
• Key competitors and the competitive environment
• Presentation and communication skills
• Team and stakeholder management skills
• Minimum 5 years estimating experience in infrastructure construction or utility services with tier 1- 2 contractors
• Experience estimating for construct only, design and construct, EPC, BOOM, asset inspection, asset maintenance, ticketed works and O&M contracts.
• Proven experience cost estimating for Transmission Line and Substation Projects
• Experience estimating Lump sums, schedule of rates, target cost, budgets and open book estimating
• Technical / Engineering experience in infrastructure and utilities
• Use of key estimating tools including Expert Estimation, Candy and CATS
• Building & maintaining subcontractor and supplier relationships and knowledge database
