Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Mining Projects (Contract)
This Perth-based opportunity offers the chance to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting a major iron ore operation in the Pilbara on a high-profile brownfields project portfolio.
Working within an established multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role delivering electrical design and engineering solutions across sustaining capital and operational improvement projects for one of Australia's largest mining operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer seeking a long-term contract with a strong pipeline of work, exposure to complex mining projects, and regular site engagement.
Role Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of brownfield mining projects across electrical infrastructure and plant modifications.
You will work across the full project lifecycle, contributing to concept studies, detailed design, technical documentation, and site support activities. The role offers a balance of Perth office-based engineering work and regular site travel, with approximately 58 days per month in the Pilbara.
This is an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension based on project demand.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience in mining, resources, or heavy industrial environments
• Strong background delivering electrical design on brownfield projects
• Experience across LV and HV electrical systems design
• Knowledge of Australian standards and mining compliance requirements
• Ability to produce and review technical documentation and design deliverables
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable Skills
• Experience working on iron ore or minerals processing operations
• Exposure to sustaining capital project delivery environments
• Site commissioning or construction support experience
• Familiarity with power system studies and electrical calculations
• Experience working within EPCM or consulting environments
• Previous exposure to Pilbara mining operations
Duties & Responsibilities
• Deliver electrical design across brownfield mining projects
• Develop and review technical documentation and design packages
• Support studies, FEED and detailed design activities
• Produce single line diagrams, layouts, scopes and specifications
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Interface with operations, site stakeholders and project teams
• Participate in site visits and field investigations
• Provide technical support through project delivery and commissioning
