Job description

Role Opportunity:
Client-side opportunity for an experienced Tailings Design Engineer to play a key role on a key Residue Disposal Area project, supporting detailed design delivery, design assurance, and integration of technical inputs across the broader project scope.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Degree qualified Civil, Geotechnical or Mining Engineer
  • 8+ years' experience in tailings and/or large earth structure design
  • Demonstrated experience on TSFs / dams / embankments in mining or heavy infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of:
o Tailings dam design principles
o Liner and seepage control systems
o Construction staging and constructability considerations
  • Experience working within EPCM / Owner's Team / Consultant environments
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines and stakeholders
  • Understanding of WA regulatory frameworks and approvals processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of detailed designs for tailings storage facilities, including:
- Starter embankments and staged dam lifts
- Liner systems (HDPE, compacted clay, LCRS, underdrainage)
- Seepage mitigation, water management, and drainage infrastructure
  • Work in close collaboration with the Engineer of Record and specialist consultants to:
-Develop and refine design criteria
-Facilitate design reviews and manage responses to technical feedback
-Support design verification and assurance activities
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces across dam construction, tailings deposition systems, and associated infrastructure packages
  • Oversee and review key engineering deliverables, including:
-Design documentation, drawings, specifications, and Basis of Design reports
-Constructability considerations and staging methodologies
  • Assist with governance, compliance, and assurance processes, including:
-Preparation of documentation for approvals
-Managing responses to independent technical reviews
-Ensuring alignment with GISTM and internal engineering standards
  • Provide technical support through early works, detailed design, and construction readiness phases
  • Engage collaboratively with project controls, risk, and construction teams to support integrated project delivery
