About the Role
As a Senior Cost Controller, you will play a pivotal role in a major mining project currently in detailed engineering and design phase. Reporting directly to the Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing project costs, ensuring accurate tracking, forecasting, and reporting to support project success. This role requires prior experience in project cost management within the mining or related industries, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with change management processes and manning plans.

As a Senior Cost Controller, you will play a pivotal role in a major mining project currently in detailed engineering and design phase. Reporting directly to the Project Controls Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing project costs, ensuring accurate tracking, forecasting, and reporting to support project success. This role requires prior experience in project cost management within the mining or related industries, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with change management processes and manning plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Project Controls Manager to develop, implement, and maintain project cost control processes and procedures.
- Utilise strong Excel skills to analyse cost data, identify trends, and provide insights to project stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly progress reports, highlighting cost performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain project cost budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
- Support change management processes by assessing cost impacts of proposed changes and implementing appropriate controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain accurate manning plans, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Conduct internal company forecasting exercises to support project planning and decision-making processes.
Key Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in project cost control within the mining or related industries.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.
- Familiarity with change management processes and manning plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
