Job description

About the Role:
  • Client side Senior Project Engineer - Civil join the Regional Studies Engineering team and support the Study Manager in the delivery of a feasibility design of a tailings facility and other studies as required.
  • Will be reporting to the Engineering Manager - Regional Studies and collaborate closely with key internal team members.
  • Provide optimized, safe, and cost-effective design solutions to fulfill business requirements promptly through robust collaboration with stakeholders, suppliers, consultants, specialists, and study teams to deliver tailings facility studies in a meticulously planned and executed manner, ready for operations/major projects/sustaining capital teams.
  • Located in the inner city of Perth office with occasional travel to site operations required. Remote work arrangements also available.
  • Offer project engineering leadership, support, and guidance for allocated major studies by ensuring engineering designs meet scope of works, standards compliance, safety, schedule, quality, and budget requirements throughout the gating process.
  • Monitor project engineering progress and facilitate technical meetings.
  • Coordinate and provide expert technical reviews (drawings, documents, calculations, etc.), guidance, and advice, serving as governance stewards to ensure compliance and deliverables requirements are met.
  • Responsible for all civil/structural engineering aspects required for the studies.
  • Develop, review, and approve Scopes of Work for geotechnical investigations and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications in consultation with site representatives.
  • Resolve technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Monitor project progress, risks, and compliance with schedule and cost within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate early study phases and detailed design, provide procurement support, and manage material management to ensure project delivery aligns with agreed execution plans.
  • Identify potential issues affecting engineering deliverables' progress and implement approved corrective actions, keeping the Engineering Manager informed.
  • Agree to and validate variations and manage contract issues.
  • Develop technical documentation including tender packs, SOWs, and study reports.
  • Initial 12 month contract and competitive hourly rate offered.

    Key Criteria:
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering. Possess accreditation with Engineers Australia
  • A proven background in a similar Engineering / Capital Works environment to include engineering and/or project engineering experience in large scale complex projects, including processing and non-processing infrastructure, with a focus on tailings facilities.
  • This includes technical documentation development and reviews, safety in design and risk management, project management systems, understanding of investment methodology and capital approval systems, QA/QC processes, engineering governance and specification development and/or reviews.
  • Strong Civil Project Engineering background within a owners team or epcm environment.
  • Knowledgeable in construction methods, practices, quality assurance and field engineering.
  • Strong Communication, leadership, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to positively influence others.
  • Ability to coordinate multi discipline and cross functional teams.
  • Able to develoop and manage schedules.
  • Sound knowledge of Change Management processes.
  • Strong MS office skills
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards prevailing in NT and WA.
