This position is available in Sydney, but Melbourne or Brisbane based applications will be considered.

About the Role:
The candidate will be responsible for grid connection functions, working together with the project development team. They will lead grid-related engineering efforts for renewable energy (including Solar, BESS, Wind, and Hydrogen). This will involve both greenfield and acquisition development projects from concept design to grid connection approval. The candidate will play a key role in driving negotiations and discussions on technical specifications, network and site selection, connection process, and GPS developments and connection applications. It will be necessary to stay current on the rapidly changing status of the NEM, NSP connection requirements, and potential opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Reports to the Head of Development.
  • Support power system studies to define generator performance standards and standards for grid connection and review grid connection deliverables by consultants.
  • Management of grid connection deliverables and scope out tasks required to be performed by consultancies.
  • Providing technical assistance during project development, pre-construction phase leading to the commencement of construction, and support where needed for registration.
  • Work and liaise closely with external consultants, AEMO, and stakeholders, being the key representative for the company regarding grid connection works.
  • Lead negotiations and discussions regarding GPS and connection applications with NSPs in the NEM.
  • Work together with the development team on applications for grid connections.

Key Criteria:
  • Relevant experience with Renewable Energy (Solar, BESS, or Wind).
  • Track record of achieving grid connection approvals connecting systems for utility-scale projects.
  • Relevant degree in engineering for Electrical Engineer or similar.
  • Proficiency and understanding in power system software such as PSS/E.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to manage relationships with AEMO, NSPs, and consultancies.
  • Strong team player, able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
