Lead Electrical Engineer - FIFO 8:6 - Major Gold Operations
This site based opportunity offers the chance to play a pivotal role in supporting one of Australia's largest underground gold mining operations during a period of transformation and growth. Working within a close knit electrical engineering team, you'll provide technical guidance and leadership across maintenance, operations, and sustaining capital works, ensuring reliability and compliance of electrical assets.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys combining field based problem solving with technical oversight, mentoring junior team members, and delivering practical solutions in a dynamic mining environment.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with strong experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
• Strong grounding in HV/LV power systems, electrical protection, and asset management
• Proven ability to provide site-based engineering support for operations and maintenance
• Experience reviewing and approving external electrical design deliverables
• Sound understanding of Australian electrical standards and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, proactive approach
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small engineering team

Desirable Skills

• Prior experience in hard rock underground mining or gold processing plants
• Exposure to brownfields or sustaining capital projects
• Background across both EPCM and owner-operator environments
• Demonstrated capability to mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams across site electrical systems
• Manage electrical queries, outage coordination, and reliability improvement initiatives
• Review, assess, and oversee external design and upgrade packages
• Conduct technical reviews ensuring compliance with safety and statutory standards
• Support project delivery, commissioning, and modification works
• Contribute to ongoing asset improvement and electrical governance processes
• Mentor and develop junior engineers within the site team
