Senior Electrical Designer - 6-Month Contract - Mining
Malaga, WA
This opportunity offers the chance to join a well-established Perth-based engineering consultancy on a 6-month contract, supporting the delivery of electrical design packages across industrial, resources, and infrastructure projects. You will play a senior, hands-on role producing and reviewing electrical drawings while providing practical support to engineers, graduates, and drafting staff.
This role suits an experienced Senior Electrical Designer who can hit the ground running, take ownership of design packages, and actively bridge the gap between engineering intent and issued-for-construction drawings.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
• 5-10 years' experience as an Electrical Designer within industrial, mining, or infrastructure environments
• Strong understanding of electrical drafting workflows, drawing management, and document control
• Proven ability to draft, mark up, review, and finalise electrical drawings independently
• Experience supervising and supporting drafters and graduate engineers
• High attention to detail with a strong eye for constructability and drawing quality
• Solid understanding of electrical layouts, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and materials handling
• Ability to take ownership of work packages and reduce delays between review cycles
Desirable Skills
• Previous experience within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy
• Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards
• Experience bridging the gap between engineering design and drafting execution
• Willingness to be hands-on and assist at a practical level when required
• Exposure to both brownfields and greenfields projects
Duties & Responsibilities
• Take ownership of electrical design packages from mark-up through to issue
• Produce and review electrical drawings to a high technical and presentation standard
• Supervise drafting resources, allocate work, and review outputs
• Support engineers by translating design intent into clear, buildable drawings
• Proactively identify and resolve design and coordination issues to maintain delivery momentum
• Mark up drawings efficiently without responsibility for specification or text amendments
• Provide guidance and mentoring to graduates and junior team members
• Assist with materials take-offs and multidisciplinary coordination as required
• Maintain drawing quality, consistency, and adherence to internal standards
