About the Role
Looking for a highly experienced contracts professional to join an EPCM client in a Principal Contracts role on a major Mining Project. In this role you will be a key player in administering contracts of unlimited dollar value to ensure contractors fully meet Company and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contracting & Procurement: Manage all procurement activities, ensuring quality compliance.
  • Negotiations: Support the team in negotiating terms, drafting special conditions, and finalizing clarifications.
  • Strategy Development: Assist in creating and implementing procurement strategies, contributing to estimates and schedules.
  • HSE Considerations: Integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into processes.
  • Tender Management: Develop and issue tender packages, review submissions, and negotiate terms.
  • Contract Administration: Prepare award recommendations, draft contracts/purchase orders, manage data systems, and ensure documentation.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with various teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee contractor performance, approve invoices, negotiate changes, and maintain contract files.

Key Criteria:
  • HSE Commitment: Strong dedication to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Electrical & Instrumentation Expertise: Essential experience in electrical and instrumentation.
  • Educational Background: University Degree in Law preferred. Relevant degrees in supply chain, business administration, or quantity surveying/construction management with significant experience. MCIPS/RIQS accreditation highly regarded.
  • Extensive Experience: Significant contracts and procurement experience in major projects within an EPCM/EPC organisation.
  • Strategic Skills: Ability to develop procurement strategies, negotiate complex terms, and prioritise in multifaceted situations.
  • Communication & Influence: Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to persuade and influence senior management and stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead project teams, provide senior advisory, and initiate self-guided interaction.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of relevant processes and tools, with troubleshooting skills.
  • Software Experience: Experience with project and procurement software (Aveva ERM, Requis, Aconex highly regarded) and disciplined approach to data.
  • Client Interface: Regularly interface with the client's team and meet reporting obligations.
