Senior Electrical Engineer - 2:1 FIFO
This opportunity offers the chance to join a project team completing engineering, construction, and commissioning of a Sample Facility and associated infrastructure for Rio Tinto. You will play a senior on-site role providing technical expertise, ensuring compliance with electrical standards, and supporting the full lifecycle of brownfield and new infrastructure works.
This role suits an experienced electrical engineer with strong E&I design experience, proven brownfield project exposure, and the confidence to act as a technical authority and site focal point. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate contractors, and contribute to high-value mining infrastructure projects.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum 7+ years' relevant Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) design experience
• Strong knowledge of Rio Tinto electrical standards
• Experience with brownfield and new infrastructure electrical design, including HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems
• Proven site engineering, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and site teams
• Familiarity with Australian and international electrical standards
Desirable Skills
• Previous experience on mining infrastructure projects, particularly sample facilities or processing plants
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical teams
• Exposure to procurement, vendor design reviews, and technical interface management
• Strong problem-solving, risk management, and change management capabilities
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide senior on-site electrical engineering support for Sample Facility and associated infrastructure
• Deliver and review detailed E&I designs, drawings, and specifications for brownfield and new works
• Ensure all works comply with Rio Tinto electrical standards and Australian regulations
• Lead electrical commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of HV/LV equipment, switchgear, transformers, and instrumentation
• Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
• Act as client focal point for electrical scopes, including reporting on progress, risks, and technical issues
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on site, ensuring adherence to technical standards
• Support procurement and manage technical inputs to contracts as required
