Senior Electrical Engineer - PV Systems & Brownfield Design (Perth CBD)
Join a specialist engineering consultancy delivering complex renewable and brownfield projects.
This opportunity offers the chance to join a highly regarded engineering consultancy delivering technically complex PV, substation and brownfield infrastructure projects across Australia. You will play a senior role in the design, execution and delivery of utility-scale and industrial PV systems, working across the full project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning.
This role suits an experienced electrical engineer with strong PV and substation design capability, proven brownfield interface experience, and the confidence to act as a technical authority and client focal point. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to high-value projects supporting Australia's energy transition and industrial decarbonisation.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
• Active registration as RPEQ / RPEV or CPEng (Engineers Australia)
• Strong experience in PV systems design, including module, combiner box and inverter selection
• Proven capability in brownfield electrical design and interface management
• Experience in 33kV substation design, including transformers, switchgear and auxiliaries
• Solid background in power system modelling, earthing and lightning protection
• Demonstrated experience delivering detailed electrical design packages
• Strong understanding of Australian and relevant international standards
Desirable Skills
• Experience working across renewable, industrial or infrastructure projects
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage directly with clients
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small technical teams
• Familiarity with procurement and vendor design review processes
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage scope and risk
Duties & Responsibilities
• Deliver detailed electrical design for PV systems across all project phases
• Design PV system interconnection, communications and control interfaces
• Develop power system studies, earthing designs and lightning protection assessments
• Lead and coordinate 33kV substation design including transformers, switchgear and auxiliary systems
• Convert design concepts into complete drawing packages (SLDs, schematics, layouts, cable schedules)
• Prepare high-quality technical documentation including calculations, specifications and reports
• Review and integrate vendor design packages and manage technical interfaces
• Act as a client focal point for multiple scopes, ensuring clear communication on progress, risk and budget
• Proactively manage brownfield interfaces and stakeholder expectations
• Identify and manage technical and project risks, including change management
• Support procurement activities and manage technical inputs to contracts
• Provide clear reporting across multiple scopes suitable for internal and client review
