Essential skills and qualifications:
- Extensive experience as an SMP / Mechanical Designer, ideally within mining, mineral sands, or bulk materials handling projects
- Strong hands-on 3D modelling and layout skills (MicroStation)
- Ability to translate process inputs into workable plant layouts
- Familiarity with PFS (Pre-Feasibility Study) deliverables and methodology
- Awareness of structural and piping coordination
- Excellent communication and cross-discipline collaboration skills
- Previous exposure to rare earth or mineral sands projects is highly desirable
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and deliver mechanical plant layouts and SMP design solutions aligned with project requirements
- Work closely with process engineers and other disciplines to ensure design coordination and compliance
- Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation for PFS deliverables
- Review and check design outputs for accuracy and constructability
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers where required
- Support design optimization and problem-solving during the pre-feasibility stage
